Help! Should I buy this used Lexus?
Hello everybody,
I am about ready to pull the trigger on a 2012 IS250 with 21,000 miles and wanted some input from the clubLexus members. I understand that this is the 3-GS forum but responses are a bit slow on the 2-IS forum; plus this is more of a general Lexus question.
The looked clean and drove fine when I went to see it, and it's CARFAX report is clean. However, as we all know, CARFAX cannot always completely be trusted. The car only has 15 months of original manufacturer's warranty on it.
On the one hand, I know that Toyota/Lexus make solid cars that are very reliable. However, I am also scared to get a lemon. Again, the car only has 21,000 miles and according to CARFAX it is good and has had all routine maintenance performed. Should i go for it?
The car is being sold by an Infiniti dealer. Please respond quickly as I am headed to the dealership within the next hour....

I also have another observation:
On Direct Fuel Injection models, the so called "carbon build up" is due to the fact that many oil companies still sell fuel with sulphur content. This is what clogs up your injectors as well.
On very high octane fuels used for racing, sulphur is removed from the fuel.

Having owned an IS250 its a great car, but like others mentioned the carbon buildup and then theres the poor quality of the dash and door panels. The dashes melt in hot climates and turn to rubber like and flake off.
GS and IS share many parts, but the IS is more nimble in the turns. IS is also smaller inside, with the GS you get a little wider.
Also being 2012 your buying the last vehicle model year why not spend a little extra and get the new IS. Or a 2013 GS or even ES
