Does changing the stereo head unit leave ML system in tact
Hi Guys,
I recently joined the Lexus club purchasing a GS300, and I am very excited.
I was thinking about swapping out the head unit, for something a little more modern, like an Apple CarPlay system.
As I already have the Mark Levinson system in the car, if I were to change the head unit, would the Mark Levinson system be ruined or unusable, or would the new head unit integrate in to the system.
I ideally want to keep the ML system in tact, but have a more updated head unit...
Any advice or guidance would be very appreciated.
Thanks
Matthew Hardman

Your best bet is to get something from vaistech.
You still need the screen to control climate in the car so replacing it is a tough task. I saw someone move the screen to the bottom and install an aftermarket unit but it eliminates the factory look.
I plan on getting the iVIC-DR and mirroring my S5.

Thanks for the info guys, much appreciated.
I noticed on my car though there is no Nav in the system, I have the same screen as yours but less options, things like climate, info etc... but no Nav
Will this be an issue?
I read the site and it refers to GS350, which look like my GS300, it may be a geographical difference though...
If I can do what you are doing while I dont have the Nav option then this would solve a lot of problems
Thanks!

Not sure if it's a 2006, it's about 5 years old which would make it around 2010, 2009 when purchased new. So it could be the end of that generation.
This was the closest representation locally in Singapore that is like my car

Sorry still coming up to speed with the different models.
I know for certain there is no Nav in it.

Thanks for helping on this, its definitely different, my Lexus doesn't have SatNav, or Aux USB button on the stereo, it has cassette and shares aux with CD audio.
So by the looks of things my head unit and display are a generation older..
Would that be a limiting factor?

The car was first registered in 2009. But by the looks of my head unit and other videos it was a 2006 model stereo, there is no nav etc.
It may partially be because this is Singapore and the shipped models might be slightly different.

well you have to buy the head unit for a 2007- 2008,on ebay $200-300,then your good
then you could order your vais unit
