Default Vais Tech the best?

So today I picked up a cassette adapter so I could play my phones music but.... horrible quality.
So I started to look around the forums and see the best option in the past has been to get a Vais Tech system so I can connect my phone to the existing nav. I was wondering has anyone found any easier option yet without the loss of sound quality or will I have to just have a Vais Tech system installed?
Vais Tech is looking very nice at the moment with the full phone integration thing they have going on. I have never seen something like this before so I am skeptical.

I have a 07 lexus gs 350 and my phone is a samsung Galaxy s3.
There is a existing wire coming from glove box but it is for apple products only :<.
The apple wire coming from the glove box is from the previous owner.

Any help would be appreciated.

PS: If someone in the NYC area got this installed I would like to find a pro to install the Vaid tech system if I do get one.

You should have that IPOD unit REMOVED before buying anything, for all we know, it could be a vaistech unit itself!

Another suggestion: An ipod costs you ~ $50-$100 for a 32gb or so, why not go that route? Ipods have gotten cheap since phones started being more useful with copious amounts of storage space now.

Glad you mentioned that. I do have a 32 GB iPod touch but IMO nothing beats a 3.5mm aux input because then anyone that sits in my car can play their music. doesn't need to be Vais Tech unit I just really want a 3.5mm jock that wont loose any audio quality with my ML sound system.

BTW, if I hit disc twice it goes into AUX mode where it plays my iPod but it has no song info or anything on the nav screen, it just says Aux mode or something like that. Does that mean its Vais Tech or is it the iPod adapter unit that you can buy from lexus?

I was considering Vaistech because then I can use google maps instead of the sucky lexus nav. Also it'll be easier to change my music from the nav screen instead of reaching for my iPod or phone.

The vaistech unit operates by hitting disc twice, that I know of, its the only company that's makes factory units for toyota/lexus which operate in that form. You might already have the unit in there but with a ipod connector. It would have to be checked out. I'm in the same situation, I operate music with a cassette.

I'm so scared of taking apart the dash to look behind the nav. I'm looking for someone in NYC who knows what they are doing to first of all check the existing aux and then when I find someone like that I would also pay him to install the new system.

IXI is right. If anyone is weary of working on their car.... It's me. I doodoo in my pants doing a simple oil change everytime.... It's just that i'm so meticulate when working on my car, i'm afraid i'll damage something.

It's a VERY VERY simple removal of the radio. just make sure you undo the shifter and cover the shifter lever with a cloth of some sort, I accidentally scratched my head unit a little pull it out (not very noticeable, even after all these years of having it.... unless you see it out in the sun).

P.S. that unit you have could be the very first gen vaistech unit. It has audio functions only, as the newer ones had ipod video+audio or composite input (yellow white red) cables. There are newer generation units released now, that I don't know of though. GL OP!

I will be ordering the system next week once I get paid. I have e-mailed vaistech and have found a installer near my house. I will try to do it myself and if i get too frustrated ill just take it there. Shouldn't be too hard, I can build computers, seems like it'll be easier.

uhm.... Yes, it is. Most definitely it is LOL! It's mostly PnP, and cut a few wires if you want too in the process (enables phone calling, not recommended for Nav units I believe).

Saying you can build computers these days is like saying you know how to play with legos. But anyway, it's not a big deal.

Also the statement "will be orering once I get paid" ... man, if you need to wait for a pay cheque to buy this thing maybe you ought to not be buying it? :P

It all depends on the year of your car, and what you want. There are other options depending on what you need.

Im 19 years old the only expenses I have really is my phone bill. I work but whenever i get paid its extra money which I use to buy stuff such as in this case the vaistech unit. About the computers thing I meant it as in it seems scary with all the wires and stuff on your first time, when you try its just like legos, pretty hard to mess up.

Keep this in mind....you may have to update your nav with Lexus to get your iVIC to work. I have a 2007 GS430 with the original nav software. The iVIC unit does not work properly in my car. Vais sent two units to try and spent hours on the phone trying to make it work. When they found out my nav software was so old they said my last resort is to update that and see if it works......
I'm waiting until the 2013 maps are released in a week or two before I update and try again.
I was a little disappointed because my plan was to avoid this lexus update cost and replace the functionality with the iVIC. Now I need to pay for both. ~$200 for the map update.
