Unhappy Nav screen has to warm up

On my 2007 GS350 I have an annoying (or) normal problem where the Nav screen has to warm up a little, like an old tube radio, to full brightness when I start up the car on a colder morning. It takes about 15 to 20 seconds. My Lexus dealer first said it was normal but eventually gave up and replaced it. It still seems to be about the same. Does anyone else have this problem? Is it common on that era of Lexus's or what?

Please advise.

Thanks much,

Alan (Van Nuys, Ca)

It's an LCD screen, so yes that is normal.

I'm unsure if Lexus is using LED screens now, but because LCD's use CFL bulbs, it's like your HIDs, they need to warm up on a extra cold day.

Hope that explains it a bit..... BTW, how cold is COLD when you say colder morning?

45 to 60 degrees.

Thanks for your answer. I appreciate it. Actually it seems to be quite a bit better since Lexus replaced it.

That sounds about right lexus1944, mine's does the same thing (this is in FL, on cold temps ranging from 45-55ish) upon startup!

Hope that clarifies things!

Yeah I have a 2nd Gen GS with nav and its the same thing. The screen transitions take like 15-20 seconds, and the touch sensitivity is all out of whack for the first 20 minutes.

My navigation takes at most 5-10 secs, color are weird when cold but nothing major like it won't respond to my touch.
