Default How would non staggered wheels look on a GS?

I'm thinking about buying Vossen CV2 wheels for my 2007 GS450h along with Tanabe DF210's. But was wondering what yall thought of wheels not being staggered. I am thinking of maybe doing 20x9 all around. How would that look?

I thought the offset could help to eliminate that funny look?
If I'm not mistaken, there's white 3rd gen with vossen cv3 10.5 all around.

You hit it on the spot SoCal..... wheel width has NOTHING to do with stance, it's the offset of the front and rear wheels. Good call on that

Ah, ok. So the car could look good if the offset was lower in the back. So is there really a point in getting wider wheels in the back?

ah, if OP gets different offsets front and rear (and assuming they are available), then of course that can help with the stance. however at that point, i don't understand what's the point then? why not just do staggered and get wider wheel for the rear? i mean, you can't even rotate the wheels anymore which is primarily the reason for same size all around. cost wise the wider rims and tires shouldn't be that much more?

to OP, yes it can look ok if you get lower offset for the rear, but again you have to ask yourself why.

the gs is rwd (i think even with awd, it has more power to the rear?), so wider rear gives more traction on the driving axle basically, and imho it looks more proper for rwd cars

Staggered is a must unless you run some super small wheels and are on airbags. To me the rear wheels do not look right if they are not stuffed.

Yea depending on the look you are going for you might not be happy unless you throw a different offset. Here is mine with 8.5 40+ all the way around lowered on the F-Sport springs.

The stance from the rear, it looks more aggressive when the rear wheels are wider than the fronts. You also get more power to the rears, which really doesn't matter much IMO because our cars do not have that much power to begin with (that is, IMO anyways). Besides aggressive looks and the ability not to be able to rotate tires (you will if your tire shop swaps tires for front and rears rather than just swap rims). I don't see the big deal..... At MOST you'll probably catch traction a fraction of a second faster than the usual OEM setup.

On another note, I WOULD do staggered, but that's me.... This is because I like the look of the wider wheel in the rear, plus I expect more power addons down the line when the car gets older .

Also, just out of curiosity, you guys say staggered is better, but don't you all stretch your tires anyways?

Yep, the AWD has more power towards the rears than the fronts. My assumption that the AWD function in the fronts is to just stabilize, not built for take-off.

Not really a must, if it is a must, why do our cars come equipped with the same width all around?

I also don't get what ya mean by super small wheels on bags. I'm on bags, tons of people here are on bags, and they run 20s in staggered offsets just fine. My brother runs 22s staggered on his LS460, he's on bags too!

@XxGokou: I just do not see it possible 20x10.5 (with correct tires) with crazy offset slammed on bags without ANY rear Quarter panel work without rubbing

My guess is the reason you would run a square setup is that Vossen's have much more "concaveness" on the 10" wide wheel. I'm thinking of doing the same thing with CV3's.

Not much different as the stock GS other than the selection of the new wheels. Lowering helps a lot. As rominl points out if the offset is different then you should go with staggered.

I was thinking of getting the same set of rims for my black GS350. But instead, I pondered the thought of making it concave all around instead of a non-staggered setup, given the fact that my GS is AWD. I have seen cars with CV2s non-staggered all around. They're not too funny if you ask me, but like everyone said it's the offset that matters, and I personally wouldn't go that route especially if I'm paying over $2-3k for a set of Vossens.
