[HELP] Gearbox Problem....Heavy in First gear and vaibrating little ???
Good day everybody,
I have very strange problem and don't know what's going on, you might help me in this.
I have a 2006 Lexus GS300 (V6)
The problem is when I started the car and shift to D, the car is heavy in movement, like it starts at the third gear, then shifting normally.
When I slowdown in a turn, the problem came again, and shifting with little vibrating.
The strange thing is that this is happening under the normal gearbox in D. But when I'm using the top tronic gear, using the shifting buttons as manually transmission, the car runs smooth and shifting normally without any problems.
I took it to the Lexus dealer and have it checked for errors, nothing cam out
I changed the fluid and filter and the problem is still happening.
The dealer reprogramed the gearbox, the problem disappeared and after a while the problem came back.
What do you think I can do guys?
do you think opening and cleaning the controlling solenoids might solve this problem?
where I can find the controller solenoids, are they embedded on the external gearbox body, or are they internally embedded ?
looking to hear from you as soon as possible
I would appreciate to have a diagram for the gearbox if possible.
Thanks in advance

I was thinking that the car for a reason starts at the 3rd gear instead of 1st when place in D.
The problem is that the dealer is saying "we have to replace the gearbox or overhaul it" which is huge cost about $US 3800
from my experience, the local dealer we have don't know anything and looking for easy money and easy replacement, so I don't trust them.
By the way, I'm in Qatar neighbor's, KSA. I must had selected Qat by mistake wheil doing the profile
looking to hear for solution.

I have been hearing about issues with transmissions on theses 06's. But to me it sounds like it could be an electrical problem.
I would first clean the electrical plugs on the transmission ecu and see if that helps. Then like you said if that doesnt do it, then open the transmission ecu and clean the inside with electrical cleaner.
Heres a link showing a diagram for your transmission https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...gs300-rwd.html
I will be back in Qatar, and KSA soon for work
