Default Lexus GS350 Cam Gear Noise

I recently bought a 2007 GS350 with 62k miles and I just noticed a loud clatter when starting the engine after the cars been sitting for a while. The noise only lasts a second or two. Its somewhat intermittent, but yesterday it did it twice after sitting for a couple of hours. Searching the forums, it sounds an awful lot like the cam gear problem some have been experiencing. I was able to capture the noise on video.

Has anyone been able to get this fixed under powertain warranty? My car doesnt hit the 6 year mark till December this year. I know TSIB EG020-07 covers this, but is this something they only do under the bumper to bumper? Also, i've had the valve springs recplaced and some say that extended the powertrain warranty although it seems like theres no consensus on that. Thoughts?

Did the updated cam gears make the start up noise go away? Notice any other differences at all?

Just dropped off at the dealer. Gave them a usb drive with two videos of the noise. Hope they can resolve this problem as it has become an annoyance. They gave me an ES350 to drive and I hate it, the steering has no feel and the suspension is way too soft. Cant wait to get my GS back!

I just had the 2013 ES 350 for about a week while they did some services on my GS. I loved it. Very comfortable. Almost didn't want to return it. Those seats are great.

I did have a free gas tank.
Also asked the dealer to replace the spark plugs (only paid for the parts).

Just an update. Picked my car up on Saturday after it was at the dealer for 6 days. Apparently it takes some time to get the updated cam sprockets these days. Noise seems to be gone, work was covered under the powertrain warranty. I was told by my service advisor that outside of warranty the job runs about $2,500. Yikes! Also did not get a free tank of gas.

My cam gear replacement was done with the valvespring recall.
Free gas tank was for the valvespring recall. Not cam gear replacement.

My GS has had the valve spring job and cam gears now. Hope the engine will be trouble free from here on out!
