Couldn't be that expensive unless the plugs are really expensive for the GS460. Just replaced the plugs on my GS350, got plugs from sewell for about 20 something each. Took me about 2 hours max to complete the job hardest part was probably getting to the plugs but it just takes a little time. Don't really need that many tools either.

Well, Im at 82k on my GS460 and I have not had the 60k service, and to be honest the car runs great. Although 90k is a standard when a Lexus vehicle should have its "major" service work done. And for the record Ive previously owned a 99' GS300, 05' LS430, now I have the GS460. The car is driven daily, and my line in the sand is 85k-90k mi when I'll have Lexus or Toyota service the spark plugs and whatever else thats major. Remember these cars are far better than benz/audi/bmw so reliabilty isnt an issue. Keep fully synthetic oil in at all times with a 6,000mile rotation and service the brake pads once a year or every 12k-15k mi. Take time to get really familiar with your vehicle. Its a great machine.

$560 is not bad at all. Would you rather have a dealer do it right or have someone going in break connectors or put in wrong plugs? It’s not a hard job to do your self. It’s a little tight to pull out the coil but if you remove the top tube seal the coil will come out without having to pry the motor for clearances. For the spark plugs on left side you will have to remove the battery and tray to get accesses to it.

My manual clearly states 60k miles so im not sure where you see 120k from. Also, the plugs on the 460 are more expensive because there 2 per cylinder. So, we're talking about 16 plugs as compared to the 6 plugs on the 300. This was what my shop told me...i have not verified since his price was still lower than the dealer.

The 460 has 8 spark plugs.... It isn't a Dodge Hemi, which has 16.... It does actually state 60k in the manual for the 460 and 300, to benifit emmisions warranty, But the irridium plugs are good till 120k. The GS430 calls for 120k Hope that clears it up.

Just letting you know your shop gave you incorrect information. Hemi is the more common engine today that does. There are a few engines that do use two per cylinder, including some Ford 4-cyl's.

Changed the plugs yesterday for the 06 GS300. Plugs were $14.99 from Autozone. Total cost was around $110 after getting the correct tools. Dealer quoted me $240. Took about 2 hrs. Plugs are $10 at Sewell so I could have saved more.

I am coming up to 60K on my 2006 GS300. Did the old plugs show visible wear or pitting?
Have you noticed any improvement in performance and fuel mileage? Thanks for posting the pic!

I did realize a little performance improvment when I hit the gas or that could be all mental. I'm getting about 27mpg on the hwy driving around 80 mph which is about the same. I knew they had to be changed regardless. The blackness of the old ones where the only visible wear. No pitting at all. Check VSC light was about for about 2 days but went off. No issues so far so good.
