Help with Gasoline smell insdie car
I have a 06 with 40k on it. I decide to do the 40k service myself.
I changed out the A/C filter and I had to force the door open that holds the filter. I have looked at the element and the filter and the box seems fine. When we first drive the car, we get gasoline smell for the first few minutes then it goes away. Any help or ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks

i don't know about the gas smell, but you may have broken the a/c filter door.
you're not supposed to force it open. You're supposed to hit the recirculation button, and it will be open for you.

Ouch. Sounds like a broken door. Did you research this topic in the forums? It's in the FAQ I believe.
Unfortunately a very expensive fix due to all the labor and time necessary to pull the whole dash apart to replace that door.

Door broken or not doesn't matter, you shouldn't be smelling gas in the car because of that. 90% of the time the auto recirc function chooses outside air (same as door broken) anyway.
