A/C stops blowing cold air.
Hi All,
I bought my 2006 Lexus GS300 with black color two months ago, everything went great until three days ago, the AC only blew hot ambient air instead of cold air. I checked the fuses and they were fine, replaced cabin air filter, the compressor kicked on/off when I turn on AC. All the modes worked fine but my AC only had hot air coming out. I tried to recharge freon using the kit from Wal-Mart to L port of the car but it did not work.
Well, I took the car to my local Toyota dealer for AC check up. I dont know what they did but the AC is running cool again but not as ice cold like my other car. The service advisor wanted me to replace an evaparotor motor arm for $780 total. He said that motor does not move the cold/hot air enough and it needs to be replace to get a full benefit of cold air for my AC. I assume he is talking about the mode servo? He also told me that they did a temporary fix on the AC but it won't switch to heater mode in winter time. I personally test the AC and the heater myself. AC is cool and heater is hot. I'm hesitating about spending $780 just to replace a servo. I've been reading on this forum about servo replacement but Im not sure what should be replace since my AC is running now.
Do you have any advice? I look at the diagram from Sewell Lexus and they have 4 servos, uper left, uper right, lower left, lower right. Which one do I need? Thanks a lot.

It has been working fine since Toyota dealer recharged the A/C two years ago. Did not change the evaporator valve. The car just reached 100k miles a month ago, knock on wood.

Had same issue with my 08 350......replaced AC condenser and heater box. Fortunately still under warranty. My Louisville dealership serviced & repaired no questions. Otherwise could have well been a $1,000 repair. Only 16K miles at the time.
