HID bulbs do not burn hotter than regular bulbs as long as you are using 35W bulbs and 35W ballasts. There are many vendors that sell 55W HID kits that come with 35W bulbs which means that they end up overdriving the 35W bulb. As a result the bulb will burn hotter and can potentially damage your vehicle. HID bulbs do put out a lot of UV which is why XenonDepot HID bulbs utilize high quality Philips uv quartz glass.

I completely agree about output My point is that I wouldn't put HID kit in fogs as it will blind oncoming traffic. You can see this on the road all the time and I am surprised that cops are not pulling people over for that. Fogs are not positioned properly to provide cut off line. By going with high power LEDs (personally have 5k 730lm), I got almost as much output as regular bulb, but at the same got pure white color like DRL in upscale cars. Since I have HID lights I don't need more powerful output as my regular lights do a great job. Also I have converted my fogs to be DRL as you can see DIY section. Overall a great result.
I have bought couple Philips kits from you which I have put in my GX460 and 4Runner (btw the best HID kits on the market). Since those SUVs came with projector lights that provide a cut off line, this is a perfect solution.
So recommend a proper solution that will give a right effect and will not cause accidents on the road.

here is my HID fog light ON with the headlight in fog weather. You can see it doesn't exactly point up.
But yes, most fog lights are round and glare everywhere.

Agree. LED is a direct light and none of them is close to 700 Lumen. Also LED need to dissipate the heat it produce, else it'll burn itself out. HID, can withstand the heat.

Here it is 725 lumen. I am using them as DRL. I have disabled regular DRL (where high beam are) and made my fogs as DRL Looks great during daylight. Put some pictures in DIY section

I still use my high beam as high beam so I will not touch that bulb.
I agree the LED does look great, which is why I change the little light in the DRL with LED. Thought mine is the cheaper cheap kind..... think I paid like $14 for both. Again, just for look. Here it is comparing with the oem yellow bulb. And I think at this time I had the 5000K HID in my low beam.
