Interesting TSIB about lower dust brake pads?
While looking at the new TSIB for the GS oil leak issue, I saw a new TSIB for lower dust brake pads. Has anyone tried these yet? Are they a warranty replacement if you complain about the regular pads?
"BR002-06 - ALTERNATIVE FRONT BRAKE PADS (REVISED) - 2006 – 2007 model year GS 430 and IS 350 vehicles. 2007 model year GS 350 and GS 450h vehicles.
Some Lexus vehicles are equipped with high-friction front brake pads, specifically designed for superior braking performance and response. As a result, under certain conditions, it is possible for the customer to experience a larger volume of brake dust on the wheels.
For customers who find these characteristics objectionable, an alternative brake pad material has been developed. As with any change made to brake pad material, braking performance and feeling may be altered and could possibly be reduced under certain driving conditions as a result of their usage.
These alternative front brake pads have now been made available as service parts."

We already talked about it here: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=261446
Unfortunately the link to the actual TSIB database is no longer working since they went private. So, where did you get your link with info?

Yep, had it done around 2 weeks ago. The original pads are horrible for dust. I brought in the TSIB, no problem under warranty. There is virtually NO dust on the wheels any longer, and I cannot tell any difference in the braking. 1000% better!

hmm... I wonder if I should have mine swapped. Would this be covered only if I brought it in now? What if I waited like 2-3 years and complained, would they cover replacing it then at no charge? just looking for ways to save money.
I mean, unless they reported it to me, I would've never known about being able to replace my pads right?
Kind of curious what reduced performance under certain conditions means... I dont take it to the track or drive in the snow so i'm not at the extremes.

The warranty replacements aren't as responsive as the originals I heard.
I would rather have break dust and better reaction/stopping power than less break dust.
just what I heard, no real evidence of my own to show.
