Listing of C-BEST (customizable features) avail on the 06 GS
Hi!!
Some of you may know that the 1K service (inspection) was recently (10/04) replaced by the Lexus Personalized Settings service. This new service lets you (somewhat) customize the keyless functions on your car.
I believe by "key out of ignition", they mean the car is off (Smartkey obviously is never in the ignition, unless the system is off or malfunctioning)

they have this for all 05 models and up. the list is included in the leather owners manual or online as xrave mentioned. apparently you have up to one year to have the complimentary service done. has anyone done it yet post-delivery? how long does it take and do you have to make an appointment?
better yet, has anyone figured out how to do some of these on your own (esp the door locking features). i did a bunch of the c-best settings on the RX myself.

To my knowledge, CBEST settings are programmed using the Toyota Scantool... only some of the options can be changed via keyfob pressing combos, etc. (ie. 2004 SC 430 trunk popper button can be changed from instant/.8 second delay/off via the keyfob)
The options are pretty identical in all models of the same year (older IS didn't have that many features, newer ones do have more, but still not this many)
The flatrate time on the service is 1/2 hour. So it can take anywhere between 1 hour and 2 hours, depending on dealer load, appointment scheduled, and any other factors that may influence things as such.
But ya, as LexusLover stated, you have up to 12 months/unlimited miles to complete the service. It is NOT forfeited like the 1K was (1K can NOT be done after a 5K, 1K no longer exists for 2005 MY Vehicles sold after 10/04). Dealers, however, do get paid by Lexus if no adjustments are made. So choose wisely. I'm sure most dealers will adjust it again for you for free (assuming you're there for every service/repeat guest) but some may charge a fee (1/2 to 1 hour labor at their posted rate).
