Grinding Sound Coming From Front Floorboards
Hey all, so i'm a new member of the community; picked up a 2001 gs300 with just over 140k miles on it a few weeks ago. After some spirited driving in our first heavy snowfall, i started hearing a grind-like sound coming from the front floorboard area whenever i accelerated past about 1200 rpm or held it at 1200 rpm. I didn't think much of it at first because it was pretty subtle sounding and i know i have an exhaust leak at the cat-back; however, it seems to sound very apparent at times, and hardly there at others. I have no engine codes on the dash either, aside from the ABS lights (previous owner told me he hit one of the sensors changing a balljoint). I'm new to this chassis so any input would be great, really hoping i don't have a trans issue.
In the attached clip im accelerating past 1200 then holding it at 1200.

Is the noise present only when engaged, or does it happen at idle? Did you hit anything while 'spirit driving'? First thing that comes to mind is to check your drive line.
You might want to narrow down exactly where the sound is coming from. If it only happens when you're in gear, raise the rear tires off the ground with jack stands and have someone create the sound while you pinpoint exactly where its coming from. Be safe though while doing so!

I have not yet gotten the chance to look underneath because it's so cold lol. Maybe I'll just have to give in to the stealership.
