2001 GS430 damp carpet driver side
Last week after vacuuming the interior I noticed damp carpet UNDER the floor mat on the drivers side.
No dampness on the floor mat.
After drying with paper towels. blow dryer and parking in sun with the sunroof vented all dry again.
Now after driving a week, no noticeable rain, and parking in the garage, it is wet again, under the floor mat.
Nothing dripping under the dash that I can see.
fluid appears to be water. doesn't smell like anything.
Any ideas on causes?

Have you guys encountered this before? I think my drain tube vent deposits to the ground on the passenger side. will have to jack the car up for a look

NJGS430 - did you ever find the cause of this as I have the same issue.
Carpets under the mats saturated front and back on left of car. I say this as I am in the UK and this is the passenger's side!
As it may be related to the sunroof drains, I have cleaned out the drain tubes as best I can (thin electrical cable and air duster) but I can only locate two drains at the front corners - another post points to four.
Any help would be appreciated.
PS - I don't think this is a leaking heater matrix as the coolant level is good and the carpets do not have a coolant smell

I ran a length of heavy fishing line, maybe 300 pound test, down the sunroof drains, particularly the sunroof drain on the drive side (that is a US driver side), front corner. It seemed to work, as I no longer have the issue. I think there are only 2 drains.

It's the evaporator box that leaks condensate (water) at the seam...the leak usually goes over to the left side.
It's located center dash, very tight fit under there but if you pull up your carpet a bit you can see the drip with a flashlight.
Another source could be rain water from a clogged sunroof drain, there are 4 drains. Water leaks down through the 'A' pillar and under the carpet, if it's one of the front drains and if the rear is clogged it will leak down the 'C' pillar.
Over the years I've had both leaks...

Frank,
Thanks for that.
I don't use my a/c as the compressor has failed - hopefully this will mean that the evaporator box does not fill.
I've cleared the front 2 drains as best I can using semi-stiff telephone cable and a compressed air can. I cannot locate the rear drains and assume that they are obscured by the retracted sunroof.
Unless you have any other tips I guess I need to get my mechanic to lift the car onto a ramp and clear the channels from underneath.

If you look behind the rear wheels you will see a clear tube that terminates. The rear drain tube goes down through the rear quarter panel and you can also see it when you pull up the carpet in the trunk, I would check and see if it is pinched.
I used compressed air to blow up the drain tube, good luck...wet carpets suck.
