Lextreme 2800 rpm TC low stall speed?
Hello CL,
Long time lurker here. I have a pretty specific question those who have a Lextreme 2800rpm torque converter. I receive my torque converter and it had "Tundra" written on it. So I called, and they said it was fine, they are fairly universal. So that's OK. However, I have had it installed for a few months now, and my impression is that the stall speed doesn't feel like it's 2800 RPM. So I would like to ask those of you who have had Lextreme 2800rpm torque converter installed if you could help me out here.
i performed a brake stall this morning and my tires break loose 2000 ish rpm. Is this what everyone else experiences?
I attached a clip. Please pay the temp gauge no mind. It needs to be grounded...

My stock TC breaks the wheels loose at about 2k rpm, with that being said just because the higher stall converter says or is a 2800 stall doesn't mean that your rpm is gonna reach 2800 rpm and then shoot out the line. From my understanding there's a lot of things that play into it, like how much power your car is making, gearing, weight and so on.
I also have a lextreme 2800 TC sitting in the garage that I've been lagging on installing, but you mean to tell me you don't notice any gains ? Are you thinking maybe it's a different stall size ?

I totally understand a brake stall isn't the real way to test stall on a TC. As far as it being better, It's hard to tell, but it does have different characteristics, I.e. sharper trans engagement, mostly noticeable on the highway. I have 265 series tires in back with heavy 18's, and before the new converter, from a dead stop, it wouldnt pull hard at all until 4K rpm. The tires didn't break traction at all unless I brake launched. It still won't break traction after the TC install and still feels somewhat sluggish, vs what I expected, from a dig. I expected to be pulled back into the seat from the surge, similar to a conservative clutch slip at 3k...
Mind you, this is with PPE headers, and a k&n drop in. I do have new poly differential bushings on all four points, but I would've expected an rpm flare to 2800 at launch. Maybe not idk (which is why I'm asking )

From watching this SC400 video with a high stall, at 0:51 seconds, he does not brake stall, and his tach goes to around 3K before launching.
At 1:24 seconds, he does brake stall this time, and his tach briefly goes almost to 2.8k but immediately drops and stays pinned to around 2K before launching.
