Default P0441/P0446 - Bad CAT?

Hello everyone,

Had a question, my CAT i know is bad and needs to be replaced. I have been using a FOULER to get by (NO CEL from that). This has been good for about a year.

Now with my inspection coming up I have a P0441/P0446 code coming up. Now I have checked all vacuum lines under the hood and everything seems tight and right. Should I just bite the bullet and replace the secondary CAT and call it a day.

Just needed some direction from everyone.

Thanks for your input, its much appreciated.

Check my post out that you replied to. Those codes are vacuum related, not cat related. Also there has been lots of posts about p0441 and p0446 and the all aim to just a couple culprits (generally).

Make sure to post back what you find and what fixed it so others can benefit.

The funnier part is that with ANY type of searching, one would find the DIY video on youtube...

I remember that vid during my endless panic searching LoL

yea, theres a video of the job for the GS on youtube showing exactly where its at...

Many say (including the service manual) that you have to remove the axle and everything to get to it, but you dont. Its going to be frustrating, but it can be done by using long arms the tips of your fingers. Removing the axle does make it much easier, but adds a lot of time to the job.

Agreed Mr Jokster. I took the rear wheel off and that was it. My arms just made it to the one screw holding the VSV on. I found it easier to get needle nose vise grips to grab the screw and turn it. Not only did it give me an extra 4 or 5 inches to move up and down to turn, it didn't strip the screw. To me the hardest part was keeping track of where the lines go.
