prices for Lexus at auction?
Sorry for posting here, but I didn't get any feedback from Lexus Lobby.
There will be a car auction in Dublin, California on May 3.There will be several 2000 and 1999 Lexus and many other cars. I live in New mexico, and before I travel 1200 miles to Dublin, I would like to know going prices of those cars. If the prices are real(unlike your real estate), I want to attend one of these auctions in the future.
Is there anybody who can spent few hours on Saturday to attend this auction? I would like to know how much these cars are sold there.

Since this is a public auction it can really vary unlike Dealer auctions where you'll see most of the cars going for wholesale(B.B. avg.) or below. I've been to public auctions where cars went for retail.. sometimes people really overpay for an item when they don't do the research or don't care.

I've been to that auction before and the prices are too high. The people who bid there become too emotional over the car and bid the prices up too high. Not sure if you are aware of this but in addtion to the price you will have to pay a 10% auction fee. So if you were to purchase a car for $20k you would have to pay $22k plus whatever other fees. You can go there on Friday to hear the engine and inspect the car but you cannot drive it. Recently, a friend went to the auction and a 1999 Nissan Pathfinder LE sold for low blue book. Way too high, considering once you add the commission you really haven't saved any money on a vehicle you didn't have the opportunity to test drive.
Dealer auctions are the ones you need to go to. Unfortunately, unless you have a dealer license or know someone who is one (or pay a dealer to take you) you probably won't be able to attend one. Someone in the LS forum suggested that e-bay could be a good place to buy one as long as you have enough time to properly inspect the car and it's related documents. Autotrader was also suggested.
Good luck in your search.

I purchased my Lexus via a Lexus off-lease auction; they seem to have them every few months in the Bay Area.
A dealer went for me with specifications in hand and put the car on his lot with me having right of first refusal... it really helps if you know someone. I ended buying it for his purchase price plus a fee (nowhere near 10%).
If you'd like his contact info, send a PM.
