Default Gearing/Auto Trannys and MPG's

I've been searching around reading a bunch for a couple days now and seeing alot of talk about a 4 speed tranny and a 4 speed tranny with overdrive and even a 5 speed auto. To expand on that I've seen people running different rear ends with different gearing.

For myself I'm looking for a tranny that can be built to hold power (hopefully the 5 speed) and decent gearing so that I'm not cruising at 4k rpm's at 80 mph. I was originally thinking a aristo jdm tranny but now I'm thinking supra. To expand on that people who are changing the rear end gearing is your choice only because you want to get moving faster? If so how big of a hit does your MPG take?

I guess what I'm stumbling to ask is, whats a good tranny to hold around 700whp (with proper stall/built) that will allow good cruising RPM's? and is swapping rear ends worth it for any reason or just run factory?

The Aristo and Supra basically use the same 4 speed automatic transmission. It can handle reasonable power in stock form, and there is much more aftermarket support for it than for the 5 speed. I swapped my GS 300 differential out for a GS 430 one when I did my GTE swap, which has netted roughly 7% better fuel economy than in my previous swapped GS 300 with the stock differential.

so the gs430 has a higher diff gearing? if i'm understanding that right.

so the 5 speed auto is limited aftermarket , but can it handle power?

i was told the jdm aristo diff is the "badass will take anything u throw at it" trans in stock form. since i drive 100-200 miles a day i want something that will handle the fun I want to have and still give me good mpg's
