Default Aftermarket air intake suggestions??

Hey guys, as the post states I'm looking for an aftermarket intake for my 2000 gs300. The problem is I can't really find many that fit my car. I've been looking online and most of them say they are only for 2001-2005 models. The only other one I have seen for my car is the SRT intake, and I don't know if I want to spend $600 at the moment. I have heard from friends with the 3rd Gen gs that the dc sports intake is pretty good. The 2000 and 2001 are pretty much the same thing so I was wondering why an intake for a 2001 wouldn't fit my car. I've tried searching through the forums and can't find much anywhere. If anyone could help with this I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

honestly, in my opinion, its a waste of money if you're not using the intake without some sort of airbox/heat shield. Without one you just end up with a bunch of heatsoak and make your car slower. The srt intake has one of these, so it yields decent results. The DC sports one doesnt look like it comes with a heatshield though, so I'd avoid it.

So I did see one online a while ago that came with a heat shield, I don't remember the brand but I do remember it said it was for 2001-2005. Would this work or is the setup different even though its also the 2nd gen?

GS300 is the same (under the hood) from 98-05.

So the sensors are the same and will fit? Just want to be sure before I spend $200+ it's just a little odd that they all say 2001-2005. Thanks for the info though!

In another thread people were saying 01-05 have a slightly different set up on the intake side. It can be modified to fit though

This is correct. The 98-00 has a different MAF sensor, which is rectangular as to the 01-05 has a square/circle. So you might want to check the hole for the MAF sensor to see if it will fit yours.
