Running Lean and Misfire cyl. 1,3,5,7
LEXUS GS400 1998
When I start the car sometimes it will only go around 5mph unless I really step on the gas, feels like it's not getting enough gas to go faster than that and then will all of a sudden kick into gear, but sometimes it won't at all , it will just keep going slow and I have to restart it.
Recently the check engine light came on, took it to have the code read and it said running lean (not sure of the code #), mechanic said to replace air filter , I did but still the check engine light came back on.
Now for the past two weeks every time I drive the car and come to a stop or going very slow the engine starts misfiring (blinking check engine light) and shaking pretty badly (in drive or neutral but neutral is better), but in higher gear is fine. Also the car is clicking a few times before it starts *click, click, click, click, start*. Just bought a brand new battery and is still doing the same. So many problems at once ... has anyone had any of these problems? Does anyone know what I should do, I feel like no one knows what they are doing when I go to the mechanic.

You need to get the codes, cant help without the codes. As for driving it around, I highly recommend not driving it at all before something bad happens.
Whens the last time you had a tune up? I'd start by checking your wires, plugs and coil packs. Swap your packs around and see if the misfires change to bank 2. Being that its only one bank, could be your packs. Could also be an o2 sensor.
Again, without codes, no accurate diagnosis can be made.

Just remember, codes are not a "replace these parts list", never fall into that. They might point you in the right direction, but people spend BILLIONS annually on replacing good parts, individually and at shots over that.
Diagnose it properly, don't just keep tossing expensive parts at it till you find the problem. Just makes one's wallet very light....
Get the codes and we can all help you point in the right direction. Don't rush at it unless you have plenty of $$ to part with... I've seen it many many many times....
First and foremost, do you have any exhaust leaks? Primarily before or close to the O2 sensors. That will give you a BANK issue. The O2 will see the extra O2 and it will cause fueling to be very very wrong.
I like codes, but like a data log much more. It shows the story in context.
Does it happen when the engine is COLD, aka, first start of the day or after 2-3 minutes? Does it change after 2-3 minutes?
Can you unplug both O2 sensors? Just drive without and see how it drives. This will isolate open vs closed loop problems and completely rule out the O2 sensors.
Do you have a plugged up cat? This will cause it to be interpreted as rich and it will be commanded to be as lean as it takes. Pull out the O2 and run it, see if it is better. Do a pressure test, if you see more than 1 psi backpressure, the cat is plugged. Replace.
