Tool Size for Timing Belt Tensioner
I am replacing the timing belt on my 99 GS 300 and I am at the point of taking off the tensioner. I need to buy a metric hex to remove the bolt holding it on. I know it is slightly bigger then a 3/8 SAE. I did a conversions and 3/8 is 9.5250mm. Is it a 10mm? or 12 mm? I hate to buy a whole set for one bolt removal. I appreciate any info and/or tips!

Measure the bolt head flat to flat.
P.S. If you own a Lexus and do your own work on it, a set of metric wrenches would be well worth the money and cheaper than buying one at a time.

10mm hexagon wrench. Looks like a 14mm might also be needed for the "screw plug and seal washer". If you are going to be working on this or other cars in general you may want to invest in a small set of them.
It's not a standard bolt, it's a female hex head.

I don't run into female hex heads often, but you are right, a small set to have in hand would be helpful. I just couldn't see paying $36 at Advance for a set I will use once every two years. I will see if NAPA has a 10mm today. Thanks.
