Any things I should know? Bro is picking up 01 GS300 w/ 83K miles
Hello,
Car is physically in very good condition from the appearance side.
Car is a 2 owner, original owner drove locally around town for most of its life so hence the low mileage. Current owner bought it a little over a year ago and put 20K highway miles on it (he bought it at 63K miles) from a Toyota dealership as the woman traded it in on a Camry. The car was serviced its entire life at that same Lexus store. He thought this mid sized GS would be OK with 2 kids, however, he realizes he should have listened to his wife and got a minivan or SUV. He decided on the minivan, so he is selling.
So as I said its at 83,505 miles:
Some things I figured I could get answered here:
Any weak spots on this generation or specific to 01s?
Any major items due up either because of age or mileage (IE: 90K, or 100K service that are major items)?
What are some things I should look for, or with the car being almost 15 years old, should I ask if he changed or replaced. Like fluids, or shocks/struts, timing belt, etc.
Appreciate the help, I have a new IS 350 F-Sport and active in that forum.

- Brakes are new.. pads all around, and all 4 rotors in good shape and were resurfaced.
- Battery is 4 months old, OEM Toyota battery
- New rear tires, fronts have 50%
- Clean carfax, no accidents
- A/C works great, ice cold.
- Car has no issues

thats a steal of a price if you ask me! If he doesnt buy it i will. Im buying one this weekend for 5k with 120k 01 gs300 silver. Make sure the timing belt and water pump have been changed. Check belts, horn, lights etc. Check for check engine lights. Look for leaks and exhaust work. Cats for these cars arent cheap at all. Listen for wheel bearings and shocks etc. The 01 and up have daytime running lights as well which tend to be usually annoying and most of us turn them off. Amazing cars for the age. Post pics of the car. What color is it, interior color?
