White smoke from engine bay
Hey folks,
I've got a 98' GS400 with 120k miles. So, I've noticed when I'm driving, there is a a burning rubber-like smell that you can smell from inside the car. I stopped the car when I smelled this, and popped the hood in a parking lot and there is a bit of white smoke coming from the back of the engine, near where the brake fluid reservoir is located.
My oil also seems to be a bit on the low side as well, and I just did an oil change within the last month. I haven't noticed any leaks on the ground, though...
Other than that, no weird noises. No performance issue. Engine still pulls hard (not that I'm pushing it right now lol), and otherwise no performance issues to note. Just a bad smell, and white smoke.
Any ideas? I've searched on the forums and have seen anything from timing gasket, or valve cover gasket...to head gasket, bent valve, etc. I'm planning on taking it in tomorrow to a mechanic in the area, but I just want to get a general sense.
Thanks in advance!
