Does it matter? Will autozone/o'reilly brands suffice? What brands to stay away from? Needa replace for smog

I've used the universal Denso and cut the old connector and it worked fine and cheaper than oem fit.

For the post cat O2 sensor I put in a generic aftermarket about 800 miles ago and so far it is working fine. GS400. I was getting code P0161. Paid just under $40. Even passed my emissions test a couple of days ago.

seeing as to how you are in CA, where emissions is a pain in the ***, I would stick with Denso. if it is your post cat o2 sensor(s), make sure it's not your cat before you buy some o2 sensors. On my old car the cat was going out and it would throw codes for the o2 sensor.

I've used both Bosch and generic aftermarket in my old Q45 and both of the worked. I haven't had the need to replace any in my GS yet, but when I do I will purchase something from Rock Auto. Honestly I would probably search and see what who made our OEM sensors and buy the same brand.

I used the NGK units that have the correct harness, not universal. I have not had an issue with them.

I used the cheapest from rock auto AWPI or something like that. Direct fit came with connector ( no splicing ) and even had anti seize on the thread.
