Default Friendly tidbit of info regarding O2 sensors

I highly recommend sparkplugs.com (that Gsoup referred me to). I just bought all four O2 sensors for my GS400 for $279! They are all OEM Denso sensors with the connectors...exactly how it came from the factory.

Do not pay $225+ for EACH O2 sensor if yours goes bad. It always pays to shop around; GL!

...well sometimes if they are real bad as in dead (not working at all) you will get a check engine light (CEL). If they are worn and old (high miles) you will get terrible gas mileage and if they are in there for a long time while being bad they could ruin your cats.

The ECU is pretty sensitve when it comes to O2 sensors. They have stricter tolerance than older toyotas. hell my dad has a Toyota camry that drove on 2 dead O2 sensors without even lighting up a CEL. Chances are, if your CEL is not on, then the O2 sensors are probably still good. Many shops carry a diagnostic tool (Dealer carrys Toyota Techstream) that will monitor the sensor reading.

just bumping this before i buy these....i swear there was a recent thread with the part #'s of the replacements but i cant find them now

im gonna replace my 02 sensors when i do my headers and this is all they list for the 2001 gs430 on sparkplugs.com

SuperClass OE identical O2 sensor 234-4138 Front Left $71.51 (im assuming to be bank 1 sensor 1)
SuperClass OE identical O2 sensor 234-4630 Front Right $79.26 (im assuming to be bank 2 sensor 1)
SuperClass OE identical O2 sensor 234-4623 Rear $78.15

so.....are BOTH the rears gonna use the same part #? which im assuming would be the bank 1/bank 2 sensor 2 right?

How much of a difference with gas mileage? I'm only getting about 15 MPG city right now.

I believe you are right Brian, bank 1's should be the same and bank 2 is downstream sensor which should be the same for any downstream on your car..

pretty good prices there, I ended up going to Advance auto which carries Bosch for $95, i've read never to use anything bosch on Toyota/Lex's for for $100 they had me a oem denso by the next day..

----

to anyone buying them definetly make sure you get the tru fit ones by that i mean non universal, that way it will be plug and play and save you alot of headache!

Brian those should be different..

both of your upstream 02 sensors "Bank 1" should be the same

and your Bank 2 sensors (downstream) should both be the same..

if you want to double verify, "Debonair" might a good person to ask, i read lots of helpful stuff in a few of his posts regarding 02 sensors

From what i've read when doing mine "Bank1 = Upstream" "Bank2 = downstream"

I just replaced my bank 2 sensor 2 with the oem Denso downstream sensor a few weeks ago..

100% agree! This makes sense as I remember two of the O2 sensors had the same part number and the other two O2 sensors had the same part number as well.

ARGH.......then the listing on their website doesnt make sense. it lists 3 part #'s for my 2001 gs430 and NONE are the same

according to them

# 234-4138 Front Left
# 234-4630 Front Right
# 234-4623 Rear

http://www.densoproducts.com/results...ctCategoryID=2

so you'll are saying is my bank 1 sensor 1 and bank 2 sensor 1 should be the same and my bank 1 sensor 2 and bank 2 sensor 2 should be the same?
