Default Thinking of getting a 2nd gen....?

Let me start off by saying I am not new to Lexus's. I have owned an 04 ES330, 07 IS250 and a 06GS300. I was set on getting a 2000 GS300 to commute around 75 miles a day to work until i started "searching" about the MPG. Seems to be a huge difference between the 98-04's to the 06 I had. That car got 28-31 mpg on the highway. By my search I am reading a 00-04 gets 18-22 mpg. Is that correct? Would I be better off going with the same year ES300?

I just traded in my 01 GS430 after a wonderful 170K miles. I consistently got 20-22 around town ( and I have a heavy right foot) and 28 - 30 on the highway. You should do that or better with GS 300.

bulls~!% u did... the GS is only rated for 17-19 in the city 20-23 on the highway you 100% didnt get 30 MPG on the interstate and 22 around town not to mention the GS300/GS400/GS430 all get similar mileage (within 1-2 miles)

i love how some noob always pops up once a year and claims to get 40-60% more mileage than the factory says they are gonna get. OP we have this discussion several times a year, due to the differences in the engine weights the differences in mileage for all models is negligible

really the gs sucks for mileage have you forgotten about the CT200h or the HS250h both are lexus hybrids and both kill the GS in mileage

Those are the only two models I am willing to consider. So I guess I will start my ES300 search!

Hey Dude, had the car (01 GS430) 7 years. Worst city milage I ever got was 19 and that was in the summer with the AC on. Got 21-22 the rest of the time. Trips on freeway of 250-350 miles I put it on 75 to 80 with cruise control and got as low as 27, as high as 30.

You do not know me so do not call me a liar. As far as your opinion of my milage --you know what they say about opinions--

i dont need to know you to know this information or to know that what your saying is false...i have owned this car since 2007 and been around the boards for almost 6 years now, i know what our car does...no way you get 19 in the city with the ac on with a heavy foot as you said, NO WAY! ALSO no way you got 27-30 on the interstate doing 75-80. i gutted 3/4 the car when i was changing interior and i took a road trip, no interior except fronts (including trunk), 16" rims (inflated correctly) NO A/C and best i got was 24-26 doing 65-70 (rpms at 3200). i hope your not using the nav screen to calculate your mileage either as its inaccurate. btw its not just my opinion, its the whole mileage thread's opinion... you seem to be the only one in the years i have owned this car to say they get a 60% increase on what the dealership says you will get but your right the hundreds of people who posted in the mileage thread saying they have never gotten more than 24-26 are wrong and you this new mysterious person get 30.
