Default Power Steering Noise 98 Gs

Has anyone replaced their power steering pump in their 98 + gs? My 98 is making a sound when turning slowly to the left or the right . It sounds like a squealing noise. I dont hear it when I am going faster than 5 mph or so . I am convinced it is the power steering pump. I have checked the fluids and it is fine and it is full.. My gs300 has 72k on it so I am assuming it is the orignal power steering pump. Anyone have and Idea as to how much it is to fix it.

I sure hope it isnt too $$ I just bought a polo leather jacket and if its too much loot Im gonna have to sell it Please guys tell me its not over 200 bucks.

check the tension on the belt...
could be that it's not tight enough or getting worn

I have 264000 km on my 98 GS 400, and I still have no need to replace mine, Take your car to a good lexus tech and have them check everything.

I just replaced the serprentine belt and the underdrive pulley belt. The only belt I beleieve that is left is the timing belt. I looked at the timing belt and it appears to be in good shape.

a good way to check for proper tension on the accessory belt (s)
is to take hold of the area that has the most slack.
then twist the belt. if the belt twists more than 90 degrees, then you have too much slack on it. if it doesn't, then too much tension, which can cause damage to the bearings in your accessories.

it's not 100% accurate, but can be used for a good rule of thumb...

toyota power steering pumps rarely go bad. i doubt it could be ur pump since it's not even leaking any oil. i'd check ur rack and pinion.

Thanks for your help guys . The dealership told me it was the drier side lower ball joint. The dealership wants 375.00 to do it. I am gonna buy the part myself and have a friend install it for me. I am just glad it wasnt the power steering pump.
