Default new exhaust

hi fellow members
i'm a new member of this forum, and i'm not the smartest bloke when it comes to cars
i own a 1999 GS300 and i decided i want new exhaust, but i don't know where to begin, in terms of what to get. my uncle told me to think about fujitsubo legalis R, but since you guys have first hand experience with various exhaust, i thought i'd ask first
also, i heard that there can be loss of power due to stock parks like header/ecu/intake and stuff, is this true?
and just for the record...i dont want a loud exhaust, but i'd like one that has a nice depth and suitable for driving to/from uni or work

It's really all about personal preference. I have Tannabe and i love how it sounds. Little deeper then the G35 exhaust but not annoying or loud at all.

Onto the power part, your car is only as powerful as the weakest part. It's like anything, if your motor was turbo'd for example and you had stock exhaust, stock piping, ect, of course your car wouldn't be running at it's highest potential. I don't believe you'll feel a loss of power by simply switching your exhaust on your car unless you went to some extreme, (ex. 5 inch piping on stock everything would cause lack of back pressure.)

Find a Tanabe Medallion Touring and be done with it. Outside of going full custom, you can't do better than the Tanabe on a 300.

IMO the hyper medallion sounds better on the V8s. The MT is a full catback, not axleback, so it helps the 300 sound a bit less anemic. You might want to consider doing a midpipe at the same time you do the HMs.

hyper is full catback too. (both are catback)

i like the hyper because its a tad bit louder. seems like the hyper was just a v1 2, db is under 95 instead of the 93db for touring and theres a single tip compared to the roll tip for the touring

what do u mean by it being less anemic

hmm...for some reason I always thought the hyper was just axleback.

In that case, either way is a good way to go. Both exhausts will sound great on the 300.

the 300 with stock exhaust sounds like it strains for every inch it moves, and sounds horrible in the high revs. The Tanabe exhausts make it sound like it's actually got *****, even if it's the piddly stock 170rwhp motor.
