Hello Gs World, I have a beautiful 02 gs. 2 years and only had to repair ECM but now when I step on my brake, the radio volume. Goes in and out??? Even when I signal, sometimes. It does it on its own. I thinking there is a short in electrical wiring I'm not sure. CAN ANYONE HELP PLEASE. This is a very nice system and I wanna repair it ........... Thanks in advance

This was happening in my SC 300 for a while. When I put any electrical load on it the voltage would drop and cause all kinds of strange things like radio cutting out, radar detector doing strange things, head lights dimming. Does it happen when you put any electrical load on the car? Like if you turn on your head lights and rear defogger or is it just brake and turn signal lights?

The issue I had was related to grounding. They sell SC grounding kits, I assume they sell them for the GS as well. I thought that it was the battery so I replaced that, but still had the problem. The grounding kit took care of it right away, that was about a year ago and it has been ok since then. I made my own kit, but they can be found around the internet as well.

Hey bro. Hope your problem gets resolved. Here's my speculation, check out the alternator. Because even though it can be a variety of things, ground kit, bad connections, etc. When the alternator is going bad, it also tends to do those type of warning signals. Especially the lights dimming, dash int he inside dimming, etc. I hope it's an inexpensive fix for you. Post up your results when your little dilemna is fixed. Good luck!

If it were the alternator i would expect the battery light to come on and stay on for a few seconds after the voltage change. If it only happens for a second, like mine did, I wouldn't suspect the alternator. The voltage regulator doesn't react that fast, it depends on the battery to pick up the slack for a second or two, so I would suspect the battery. But because he just replaced the battery, my thinking is that his problem is the same as mine, grounding issues. That's my reasoning, anyway. It comes free from the Internet, and is worth what it costs.
