1999 Gs300 lock/unlock programming issue
I baught a 1999 gs300. And replaced the door lock actuators. It came with an uncut key/remote. I did the on board programning steps and the car seemed to accept the key. But after exiting program mode buttons still dont work. Took it to a lock smith who also programmed the key with his computer (not sure what program he used) he got the key programmed but again after exiting the program mode key doesn't lock/unlock the doors or open truck. But on his computer it still says the key is saved to the ecu. Need some help trying to figure this out.
Also, when i use my key to unlock the car on the passenger front door it unlocks all door but when i open the door the alarm goes off. Not sure if that has anything to do with my issue. Any advice is appropriated. Thanks!

Where did you get the lock actuators? Some of the really cheap ones don't work correctly. If its not that they could have been installed incorrectly. Double check that they all lock and unlock correctly when you press the buttons in the car. If the car does not see a door in the correct position it will not let the remote buttons on the key work.

I got the actuators off of ebay. They are a generic brand. All the doors lock and unlock with the door switch inside the car. Could i unplug one actuator at a time and see if the key will lock/unlock the doors? Or will it still do the same thing?

When i press the buttons on the key nothing happens but the little red light on the key flashes. The trunk does not open with the key either. But all the buttons inside the car function properly (trunk and door lock buttons).

The buttons in the car aren't tied to the key in any way from my understanding. To me it sounds like the key is not actually programmed to the car. Did you follow the programming instructions for the car (see video below)? If the door locks don't cycle at the end of each step then it was not done correctly or if you're sure that you did everything properly one of the strips in the door actuators that you installed is not letting the car see the lock position of the door. The cheap generic actuators often times have this issue.

Yes i followed the steps on this video and it seemed to accept the key. But after i closed the door (exit program mode) it didnt lock or unlock anymore. Then i took it to a locksmith who programed it with his laptop, the car made the beep sound like it was programmed but the button still didnt work afterwards.

That sounds like either your car doesn't know where the doors are according to the new door lock actuators or a problem with your car's receiver for the remote. Maybe this could help.

Hey, I went through the exact same thing with my '99 Aristo. I changed the actuators in my front passenger side door, and my remote didn't seem to register after I finished. The light flashed red, but the car wouldn't lock/unlock/ or open the trunk. I went through the steps listed in that youtube video and it would never accept the key programming.
What fixed it for me was to go over to my passenger side and physically unlock or lock the doors with the key. After that the remote worked. However, I read that you did this already and set off the alarm, which didn't happen to me since I don't have an alarm on my car.
So in the end I guess this was useless to post, but it might help someone else who went through this problem.

I will try this. The factory alarm will only go off if i unlock the passenger door and open the door. And when you say passenger door is that the driver door on a usdm gs300?

I had the same issue when I replaced my actuators last spring. The power lock switch worked but the key couldnt be programmed, I too had an issue with the car alarm going off everytime I unlocked the car with the key and opened the door. Read this:

The guy knows his stuff and sells rebuilt OEM actuators on ebay. I bought new ones from him and it fixed my issue. I hope this helps!

Luxious auto also sells sets of 4 actuators (all doors) shipped for $55. I got those and they've been working great for me
