before i was looking into same thing, test drove is or gs300/400. went with the IS bcs at that time there were no good GS, either beat up or engine was not maintain etc, plus time was limited needed a car asap. if i had more time, i wouldve gone with the GS400. interior is a lil more compare to IS. gs300 was to slow, the heavy body needed the V8. is300 is fast, fun, nimble. leg room is almost the same as GS. GS seats are more plush, comfy, its a passenger car. IS is more of a driver's car. like sitting on a leather lazboy vs office leather chair.

I have a 300. To be honest, I'm disappointed in the power. It's really sluggish. But then again, the 300 wasn't made to race, to me its more of a cruising car. I love cruising in it. I've learned just to enjoy the car for what it was made for, definitely not racing.
Not sure how fast the 400/430 fast are but they can definitely take a 300. As for the newer 350's, there ridiculously fast. I didn't wanna go back to driving the 300 lol.
That being said, the 300 is a great car hands down, just a bit slow. It's perfect for hauling the family around town or on trips. If you plan on modding a soon, get the 2JZ, but if you plan on keeping it stock for awhile to haul the family around, get the V8.
Just my .02 cents. Hope it helps and Good Luck!

Thanks for the opinions guys!
I think I'm going to go with the GS 300 because I really plan on going with the 2jz-gte swap ultimately after running the stock motor into the ground and then making a project car out of it in due time (far into the future)
Now I just need to find a buyer for my SRT-4 and make a move.

Welcome to CL, just a heads up, might take you a long long. time to run the stock motor into the ground. Youre on the right track tho, the 300 is way to go if youre planning boost, the V8 gives much more bang for the buck stock.
A GS is gonna be more comfortable and roomy as a family car than the IS. Comes down to personal taste, i almost got an IS but the GS style and comfort won out for me. Both are great cars.

Go with the GS300 if you are planning on doing the TT swap. The quickest a 400/430 will ever go stock is mid to low 14's. For some that is quick enough but if you want a GS that has the potential to run low 13's with BPU mods then go with the GS300. I think a Twin Turbo GS300 would be a cool car to own.

Get a car seat and go try it out reverse facing and forward facing in the IS and GS. And then you will go buy a LS.... I can tell you from having 4 kids, larger car is going to be far more welcome than smaller. Unless the carseat won't be in it, then nothing to worry about. But you would be amazed how much you NEED the front/back room more than width. Kids grow and they will have their legs up against the seat in no time and think protection, in an accident a small car will break their legs and likely hips. Seriously, go larger car. Once the car seat is front facing (roughly 1 year) then there is a bit more room.
Hey guys/girls.
Recently I have really been considering either a GS300 or IS300.
I am due to have my first child in a couple months so I am looking for something that will provide the luxury, practicality, and comfort now then further down the road provide me a project car with loads of potential. I'd absolutely love to have a 2jz-gte car when the time is right.
I'm no stranger to building turbo cars. Currently I have an SRT-4 which I'm looking to sell for the Lexus. I also had an Evo 8 at one point, and ten built DSM's over a ten year span.
I am really up in the air on whether I should go with the GS300 or IS300. The IS300's are a bit on the small side but probably a better size for a toy car. The GS300 seems a bit big but the interior is much better (at least in my opinion)
I was wondering what to "Look out for" when going to purchase either car, and if any GS or IS300 owners could share opinions on which direction to go in.
Thanks everyone.
