Gs400 vs g35?
Hey guys, I just picked up a 1999 gs400 last month and I must say that I am impressed with it's power. I already began the modded process and purchased tein flex, and magna flow 14829 exhaust pans.
Long story short a friend of mines with a 2004 g35 coupe with exhaust wanted to run me and I was very impressed with the outcome. He jumped out a half a car off the line and I wheeled him in at about 80. I'm curious to see if any other CL member had similar outcomes running g35s'?
I also ran a 6 speed 2005 maxima with exhaust and intake and beat him by a car.

I did once when my gs was on stock rims stock height and no sound system. I had my friend in the car and the g35 coupe had a passenger as well.
The first time he snuck up on me and I wasn't expecting him. The next time we were both lined up and I had the power mode on. Just basic gas and braking, no gear shifting or anything like that. I finally slowed down when I got a car length on him.
Then the last run I basically can say it was a repeat.
Next stop light he pulls up next to me and says "my bad son! I didn't know you was pushin a GS!" I just laughed and said man them g35s are no joke either
So all in all I beat a g35. I am not sure if that should be the usual outcome but it happened to me...
And on another note, should I be beating an sc430? Because that has happened before

The G35 coupe (03 -present), given it has the 6spd manual, will easily handle the GS 400/430 highway, from a roll, from a dig, whatever. Our cars are too heavy, don't handle as well, and don't compete with the aerodynamics of the G.
The G sedans shouldn't even be in the discussion unless you are referring to any of the ones manufactured after 07

I've owned 3 G35's in the last 5 years.. I had an '04 coupe, an '06 Coupe and a '08 G35 S (Sedan) as my daily drivers.
Stock (Gs400) for Stock (G35). These cars are very close.. It a hard call because it depends on the driver.. The G35 is better off the line because its more peppy, the GS400 is awesome once it gets rolling past 2nd gear. Both quick cars.. but if you're the driver of the GS400 (If you fall asleep or not pay attention) the G35 will blast by you.. I'm not saying a G35 will win, it'll be a very close race but this is not really a matter of which car is faster - its a drivers race.. The driver determines the outcome...
I owned both cars at the same time and its pretty even stock vs stock but the GS400 has a slight edge if you REALLY know how to drive.. but make no mistake the G35 will take you out if you're not in total command of your GS400!
