Default ready to go in...we almost

Got the motor all ready to go in today....put it in, started hooking everything up and wham...bamm...the exhaust manifold are different. DOH...well it only took 15 mins to get the motor ready to come back out...just high enough to swap the manifold and then back in it goes. Amazing how fast it is the second time around.

Default all done

just have to put the hood on and chase down one gremlin. Slight vibration, not at idle, only after you put it in gear. I dunno, should be able to find it today.

Excellent work...
Check those motor mounts for your vibration gremlins.

Good to know we can get replacement motors from Japan w/ 60k miles, maybe one day.

Default gremlins found

had to swap out the oil pan, so i went ahead and did both motor mounts at the same time. beautiful...strong motor, not a shutter to the car, ultra slick.....couldn't be happier. It was well worth the effort and time.

My mechanic orders transmissions from a company that gets them from japan. They claim that 60k is the time when they are change over there per regulations. So if anything goes bad, order from japan.

Nice write up. I woulda killed my sister though

Definitely bundle loads of info. in this thread. It's truly a great alternative to rebuilding a motor and reducing downtime, for anyone interested in going this route. Next time tell your sister, catch the bus or use the tractor out back LOL.

Good work! and Don't forget to post exhaust sound clips of the "borlaesque-re-al!"

I am not sure what you mean, but as long as you didn't move anything while the timing belt was off everything should be fine.

check for fuel, spark and compression.
