$5-700 motors? You guys are lucky or there are no other GS3/IS3's in need of a motor in your area. It's much more than that up here.

Since then it has been running very smoothly. Since I travel a lot in my job, I'm on my first full tank of gas and haven't compared mileage yet. Looks about the same so far. Did the 2000 engine have more hp? It seems to have a little more power, or maybe it's my imagination. However, so far, so good.
Here's my question. I got a 90 day warranty. Is there anything I should do or try to test this engine before the warranty expires? I've read about Seafoam but never tried it. I drive like a grandpa (I am one!) so I'm not about to race it or rev it real high. What would you do?
They all have the same motor, they all have the same power. I think that because you got a lower mileage motor, the compression is better than your old one and that is why it seems faster/stronger. Seafoam wouldn't hurt it either. Since you say you drive like a grampa, I'd be a little hard on that thing and see if it will hold up, maybe even redline it a few times. I mean, you do
