Need help identifying diff i bought
I bought a used lsd diff for my gs430 but when i open it it looks different then a regular torsen. I was told it was out of a jdm SUPRA TT AUTO but the gear ratio is wrong although the casing is right. Im thinking it is ether a supra diff with the ring gear and pinion swaped although it looks oem or it may be out of a 98 sc400. There is a sticker on the case and numbers on the ring gear dating it 1997/12/08. Ive been reading articals for over 6 hours and i cant get a straight answer. Anyways it looks like a newer style torsen but it has a 3.26 ratio 15 on pinon and 49 on ring gear. PLZ HELP and it has the smaller 10 bolt ring gear and three bolt driveshaft flange. (ignore dates on pics)

Looks like the A03B . It's obviously a Torsen, and since you said it has 10 ring bolts, it's the A series.
Both of these are from auto TT's.
Either this:
Final Drive 3.769
Differential Code A02B (Torsen LSD)
Drive Pinion - Number of teeth 13
Ring Gear - Number of teeth 49
Ring Gear size 200mm
Or this:
Final Drive 3.266
Differential Code A03B (Torsen LSD)
Drive Pinion - Number of teeth 15
Ring Gear - Number of teeth 47
Ring Gear size 200mm
Since it doesn't look like the 3.76, it's most likely the 3.26. Count the teeth again to make sure.
Definitely not from an SC.

Cool thanks alot. It has 15 on the pinion and 49 on the ring gear which is a 3.26. Now that i know what type of diff it is i have found that the 05/96 - 07/02 2JZ-GTE 6 speed manuel came with the A03B. In the USA the A03B was 47 ring and 15 pinion for a 3.16 but in Japan the A03B had 15 pinion and 49 ring for a ratio of 3.26. Although it was out of a stantard, in may 1996 the A03B was used intead of the B03B so it is in the smaller automatic style of case.
Thanks again Sixdown for helping tho clarify this

Damn, good jobs guys. I have this same diff and always thought I had a 3.77 Supra auto..now to think that I might've been running a 6spd 3.26 torsen for the last 2 years...wow....just....freaking...wow. It explains a lot.
I wouldn't be suprised cause the R154 + my A03B = SUPER highway gearing.
I need to double check mine now...

Not just gearing, the manual trans normally use a "b" style diff that is bigger and wont bolt into the gs. The auto uses an "a" style which is smaller and bolts right in to the gs. The only manual diffs that fits the gs are from JDM supras from 96 to 98 when they stopped making them in north america and changed the diff size in japan.
