im really sick and tired of having to pop the latch off and push it back manually to close the hood everytime i have to do something to the GS. i want to replace the latch but i dont know which one to buy. I have read the hood latch replacement thread like 4 times over and over and i went to the site but there is like 3 different kinds, is the GS3 and GS4 one different?
thats a pretty darn good deal but isnt the issue the cable itself and not the latch sorry i should have specified earlier, i thought that the cable was the one that got stuck and didnt let the latch move freely
Well cable is $30 and is still the same part. Mine was getting stuck too, but was happening in my fender well (it goes right around the top of the driver side fenderwell) but my problem was that when I layed out with the bags, the 22" rim was sitting right on it
how do i know if its the latch just pull it out and just have somone pull on the cable from the hood latch inside the car and see if it moves freely? this kinda makes sense lol
Majority of the time its the cable that gets worn or corroded which causes the latch to not move freely. Replace the cable first. I highly doubt you need a new latch unless the beat the **** out of it trying to get it work when it was really the cable's fault......LOL.
lexuspartsnow.com has the cable for 34 shipped while sewell has it for 41, is lexuspartsnow a legit site or some make believe bs site someone is running from their moms basement?
also does sewell give discounts anymore for CL members?
Why you think its the latch d-boi? Its more than likely the cable... I have a hood latch that I changed from my 430 just because I bought it together with the cable. I tested it prior to replacing it though, and it was working perfectly...
I wouldn't be surprised if it's the cable; especially since you're in Michigan (yay snow and salt!). I had the dealership replace the cable 3 years ago but since the latch was giving out, the cable kept on getting stretched and now latch doesn't even work.
The cable might solve it for now, but if the root of the problem is the latch, both should be replaced...which I need to do also.
