One more steering shake thread
Alright, I have read 10000 posts on this issue and I have replaced the ball joints, outer tie rod ends, #1 and #2 control arms. I can't get the jam nut off to tighten the rack and it seems like the rack bushings are fine. My symptom (this is where I could not find a thread) is that SOMETIMES when I step on the brakes, the steering wheel shakes quite a bit. I hesitate to think that it's the rotors because it doesn't happen all the time. What are your thoughts? PS, no shake while driving at all, although I do seem to correct the steering at highway speeds more than I would like.

I am having a similar problem. I will occasionally get a shake. I ordered some FIGS #2 Caster Arm bushings and steering rack bushings that came in yesterday. I am hoping those will clear it up, but it sounds like you already tried that

I'm shocked all these people didnt tell you this already except for chico: it is 1000000% your rotors, do NOT resurface them, thats very unsafe and it decreases the braking power. Just buy new rotors and feel the amazing difference! You can even buy the autozone rotors, anything is better then resurfacing them, dont cheap out on this, ive been there done that. For the price of resurfacing rotors you can buy brand new rotors from autozone. Buy new rotors and you'll be all set! Make sure you get brand new pads as well. You CANT put used pads on new rotors!! If your not trying to spend that much just start with the front rotors and pads and get to the rear another time, only the front can cause the shaking.
