Another NOISE. Please help!
ok i know its been said like 8 million times but i want some fresh answers or suggestions.
my car makes a rattling noise when i hit bumps, even small bumps. sounds to be coming from the rear driver side. i looked in the trunk and took out the carpet to see the top of the strut mount and that was pretty tight, so i know its not that.
the car does not make that noise if it is still and i bounce it up and down, just on bumps.
please help. its really annoying, and worst, embarrassing to have a Lexus that rattles.
thanks guys.

check your doorlocks and make sure theres nothing loose on the inside of the door. My passenger side door has something broke inside it that keeps it from locking with the key remote and rattles over bumps. Possibility....

Does it rattle on the same bumps if you are pushing lightly on the brake pedal? If applying the brakes makes it go away you will need a fit kit for your brake pads they are moving around. I have this problem right now and it is annoying, but I have not taken the time to fix it.

Open the trunk and wiggle everything... brackets, speakers, rear deck, seats, jack, spare tire, lights, etc...
Also... jack up the back end and wiggle everthing that you can see.
Good luck!

I think slickgt is on the right track. I had a "clunk" sound everytime I went over a speed bump at low speeds. After the dealer changed the struts, it still did it. I took it back, had the tech ride with me and in 5 minutes he said he knew what to do. He torqued everything to spec in the rear and I haven't heard anything since -- that was 3 years and 75K miles ago!

The kit is from Lexus, you should be able to get it from Carson or Sewell or your local dealer. I do not have the part # right now.

I used to hear something also. I changed the strut and now its fine. My back strut was completely dead and when they are dead they make all kinds of sounds.
Also as one of the other member posted, u need to make sure everything is torqued properly especially the strut nuts in the trunk.
