i have 5% on the sides and 15% on the windshield..... yes thats right - 15%. i live in little rock, AR and the local cops never bother me - state troopers on the other hand are a different story. with 15% i am asking to be pestered because its obvious during day and night. overall the risk is well worth the reward. it looks great on the car and keeps the interior a little cooler.

if you want tint just to block heat i would suggest using v-kool 70%. i have that on my current car right now and honestly no one even notice i have tint on my windshield...yet they wonder why there's no heat coming from the front lol my previous car had 50% on the windshield and it was nice but i wouldn't go anywhere darker than 50%...that's just unsafe. i guess people with 15% or 20% or even 35% windshield tint don't have to drive much at night lol
but seriously...tinting the windshield was one of the best decision i've made wouldn't do another car without it. i always say...a tint job is never complete until you do the windshield too just think about it, most heat comes thru the front and back since it's the largest glass and it's slanted.
for those who say you can't see ***** definitely have never been in a car with tinted windshield lol i don't know about the rest but with 50% or 70% you can see perfectly fine at night.
