Default noob green tint headlight question

Ok... So i got a very noob green tint headlight question. i was planning on buying some green tint headlights from someone but it has some oxidation on it. I plan on sanding it down with 1500 grit and moving on to 2000 grit before i use plast-X polishing cream. My question is that if is sand it... with it rub off the green tint? is it just an outter layer or is the whole plastic green? I don't want one side to be semi-clear and the other green.. thanks in advance for postive response... sorry for being a noob.

It's the reflector bowls and the shroud that are green not the plastic housing.
