Are the rear turn signal bulbs amber or white?
I have a 98 GS4 and I'd like to know if the rear turn signal bulbs are amber or white? I know the casing is amber and that would give it an amber light but I want to know if the actual bulb itself is amber? I'm asking because I'm changing my rear lights to led's and i'm debating on buying led amber bulbs for the turn signal or if I could just use the oem bulbs.

I know your oem bulb is clear not amber and I think the number is 7440,now as far as the led tails mine are 1156 and I tried red leds for turn signals and it did not have enough output for me so I didnt want to risk getting rear ended so I put amber bulbs in which give good output and more of a oem feel to my lights

If you have the 98' taillights then the bulb is clear. The lens is just amber. If you are considering buying the LED taillights and changing the rear turn signals to LEDs also, don't do it. Members have said that amber LEDs aren't as bright as halogen amber bulbs. I had chrome amber bulbs (that came with my Sonars) at first, but the light output was pathetic during a sunny day. I almost ended up getting rear-ended on a few instances because I signaled and merged into another lane but the person in that lane couldn't see my turn signal blinking because it was so dim. What I've recommended is the Sylvania Silverstar turn signal bulb. It has this weird looking (greenish/purplish) tint on the bulb but the light output is very good compared to amber LEDs and the chrome amber bulb. I think there are some JDM chrome amber bulbs that are bright but they are quite expensive for 2 bulbs ~$40-$50.
