someone help me.. trying to repalce factor radio with new head unit
I have a 99 gs400 and I am trying to replace the pioneer factory radio w/o nav with a jensen touch screen head unit. I can't find a wire harness because there isn't one. I have looked and looked and can't find anything on installing an after market radio and subs. If any one can help me it would be greatly appreciated. Email me at faniop777@tmail.com thanks...

Not all the wiring is there, interestingly I never found the negative (so I chassis grounded) and the accessory circuit I had to get from behind the stereo. But yeah the rest of it: constant and speakers I had to extend the wires to the amp harness using and modifying two 1987+ Toyota harnesses.

if you are not going to use the factor amp, buy a toyota plug that fits the harness. your only going to use the +12v memory, acc, and ground wire. run your rca's and remote wire. since your going to hook amps run wires from the aftermarket amps straight to the doors. just hook up into the stock speakers at the door. if you change to coaxial good. if you going to run seperates, there might be not enough space to fit the crossover. I have 4 amp system 8500watt system 2-12 digital designs and rainbow mids and highs. the stock changer and amp still in the car. (not working)

The headunit install can be done with plugs and cutting only 1 factory wire. Buy a 87-up toyota plug, and rearrange the pins so they all line up, color match up does not matter, just remember which wire is which. I had to cut into my clock above my radio to get accessory. Buy a light-tester so you know which wire gets power only when key is turned on. To "re-pin" the plug get a needle or some other small pointed object. When you look into the socket side of the plug you will see little tabs right above the pins that hold them in, you need to push these up and pull the pin at the same time and they should slide right out.

And oh yeah, when you buy the 87-up toyota plug, there will be four plugs, use only the two that plug into the two white plugs on your stock amp. Remeber to leave plenty of wire on the plugs too.
