'02 GS430 Ext Color Choices?
Hi Gurus,
I just recently joined ClubLexus. I've been lurking for a while because I'm thinking of buying a new GS430 and this site bursting with useful info for prospective buyers like me. Thanks!
Now I've decided to actively look. My first choice for exterior color is Blue Onyx Pearl so I asked one of the local dealers (Longo) about availability. He told me that for 2002, the GS430 only come in black, silver, and very few whites. Is this true? I only have a choice of three colors? If this is true, why does Lexus.com have BOP as an available choice? Is it possible to order a BOP? Anybody try? I know Longo's rep is excellent (I have had very good experiences with them - I've purchased a few cars from Longo Toyota), so I doubt they are trying to pull a fast one on me. I just wanted to get some 3rd party confirmation.
Thanks.

bruinman,
welcome. as the gs is in the last 2-3 years of model cycle, mfg is trying to eliminate(produce much fewer) less popular colors. i like the blue onyx too. however, since this is one of the colors that does fewer sales than the colors that you mentioned, your chances of finding it are quite slim. you can try to ask other dealers for info. but, as you said, longo is quit upfront about all relevant info. i would say that they are 95% correct.
have you gotten any prices? let me know if you want to shop around as my buddy is a gen/sales mgr.

GSB, you certainly can special order your vehicle. Allow maximum of 4 months, minimum of 3 mos. (Lexus of NA only sends orders to Japan once a month for some dumbass reason, miss the deadline by a day and you've tacked on a month to the 3 month time quoted for special orders).
You can also have Longo do a search, both in-region and nationwide as they rcv notificaion of allocations (occurs usually twice a month). If a duplicate of the car you have ordered comes in, anywhere, the dealerships can usually trade off. If it's out of the region, however, you may end up paying a shipping charge.
But, there's no charge for s.o. (how I got my current car), and you get exactly what you want.
good luck and Merry Christamas!!!

Gold also is available
I just picked up my '02 earlier this month in "burnished gold metallic", which was my first choice of exterior color.

I went down to Longo and saw the shipping list for GS430. In the last two months they were virtually all black and silver. There were 2 golds (oso got one of them). I was also told that if I want a BOP, I could order it but it would take around 4 months and even then, I may or may not get one - it's up to Lexus. So, I've decided go for a black one since I don't really want to wait that long.
Thanks for the info guys.
