Default HID Yellow Vs. Factory Yellow Fog Lights

Ok i absolutely love the Yellow fog light look ever since my first car (97 Qx4). Now i have a GS400 with the stock yellow fogs and i was wondering what is more yellow the stock fogs or a yellow hid kit? or if i put the yellow hid in the yellow fogs. or clear fogs on the yellow hid? its confusing but what is the best yellow? I just ordered a Yellow hid kit so i wanna know.

I will take a photo of my car ('99 GS400 w/ factory yellow fogs) and added HID (non-yellow or "white") kit so you can see it. I'm not sure how the yellow HIDs are going to look. The "white" HID kit and yellow housing makes a heck of a statement.

4GrainR- Thanks for your rely. Do you find that the Yellow looks more intense with the HID? I am looking forward to the pic.

It's the housing that gives the yellow look, not the bulbs correct? (for the factory setup)

yup there are yellow capsules that go around the bulbs, so when you turn on yourbulbs they emit yellow light. if you look at the foglights you can actually see the yellow in the reflectors.

I have a ton of lighting mods on my car. Check this thread to see what my lights look like. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=252129

Here's a pic. Notice how bright the HID yellow fog is. The factory halogen bulbs in the fogs are barely visible on the ground if the headlights are on. With HID's in the fogs, the yellow is visible at all times.

These are factory GS400 yellow housings with Philips HID 9006 conversion kit. Please note that these are 4300K 'white' bulbs, not yellow HIDs or tinted anything. It is just plug and play in the factory fog lamp assembly.

Do you need to wire ballasts for a HID fog upgrade?

i really like the look of the HID fogs, i'm sure it makes them much more "usable" because the stock fogs are about worthless

4GrainR- Wow the 4300K hid in the yellow fac. Fogs look sweet. My 3000K yellow hid kit should be here today so i will post pics later on. I mite just have to buy the 4300K bulbs if they don't look as sweet as yours. Also your GS is sick the rims you have look tight. Thanks for your help.

So, if you have yellow housing do you want to get white bulbs?

The housing will color any bulb that you put in there. Like I said, mine are "white" bulbs, but since the housing is yellow it makes them uber yellow.

Here are some photos from the front. Note that I am almost on the ground looking straight at them, not at driver level.
