to get rid of the corrosion, you can either use a metal brush like those you use to clean golf clubs or use baking soda mixed with water.
if you do the baking soda method, you might want to remove the battery before you start doing this because the baking power will show up when the water dries.

dood, trust me, its ur battery..it happened to me too 2 days ago. I thought it would be the starter too. Mine kept clicking, the interior lights and guages will go on and off when im clicking, and it will just make clicking noise. I changed the battery, and all was gud

Im almost willing to bet that its the starter! If your battery is low it will take the car a bit longer to start, but you will not get a click. When it clicks it is the starter, when the battery is dead the is no click at all. One way you can test this is get a long screw driver and a hammer and tap on the starter a few times gently, and then try to start the car again. I replaced my battery first because i had it tested and it was very low, maybe 2 weeks after i had that done my car started to click, sure enough it was the starter this time, replaced that and havent heard a click since then. You can replace the starter by yourself, its not very hard just time consuming if you dont have a shop lift, if you decide to replace it yourself, make sure you get 14mm angeled gear wrench and go to town.

Starting problem- new twist
Great info from many of the posts but my problem appears to be slightly different - I'm guessing starter from some of the previous info.
Symptoms: Clicking noise but no start- had battery tested and was good
Reinstalled and same old problem, so tried jump starting and it worked
Had battery tested again and still showed good but Advance Auto replaced anyway.
Installed new battery with same result - clicking but no start.
Is this the starter? if yes, why would a jump start work - more amps?
Any ideas would help.
Also, if I jump start and drive to dealer, am I risking breakdown during trip?
