headlight protection?

Has anyone applied an aftermarket product to protect their headlamp housings from chips and scratches? (Being that HID housings are pretty expensive to replace). I saw this ad and wondering if anyone had tried it yet.

That sounds like a sensible product to have. I see no harm in putting that on, but too bad the guy doesn't list the pricing. I already have a few small dings on my headlamp.

If you click on the order link, it'll take you to a page that shows which cars can be fitted with the protection kit. The price is $39. I just wonder how durable the kit will be, namely if it will begin to discolor or peel away. I am also wondering if it will reduce the light output in any manner. Any ideas? Anyone?

Speaking of Headlight protection on another note, I used to have an 99 Acura TL, and have heard through sites like www.acura-tl.com and in the local news that people are actually stealing the HID lamps right from these cars.
Are the Lexus GS HIDs harder to steal than a TL's HID Lamps? Any comments? That would be horrible to come back to your car and you entire HID Lamp system is missing!
