Has anyone applied an aftermarket product to protect their headlamp housings from chips and scratches? (Being that HID housings are pretty expensive to replace). I saw this ad and wondering if anyone had tried it yet.

That sounds like a sensible product to have. I see no harm in putting that on, but too bad the guy doesn't list the pricing. I already have a few small dings on my headlamp.

DIESELMAN63 -

If you click on the order link, it'll take you to a page that shows which cars can be fitted with the protection kit. The price is $39. I just wonder how durable the kit will be, namely if it will begin to discolor or peel away. I am also wondering if it will reduce the light output in any manner. Any ideas? Anyone?

Seems like it would work pretty good, maybe a club lexus member can try it out and reply a post.

Speaking of Headlight protection on another note, I used to have an 99 Acura TL, and have heard through sites like www.acura-tl.com and in the local news that people are actually stealing the HID lamps right from these cars.

Are the Lexus GS HIDs harder to steal than a TL's HID Lamps? Any comments? That would be horrible to come back to your car and you entire HID Lamp system is missing!

the dual headlight fixtures are 1 piece and in order to remove the, u have to remove the whole front bumper and have access to under the hood to remove some bolts.

That's probably the solution right there. Thanks for the info DISC. Just too many punks out there, trying to steal anything that isn't tied to the ground.
