I plan on buying a used GS in the next few weeks and I'm wondering if anybody has had any experience with any of those third party warranty companies like warrantydirect. If anybody has one, would you suggest getting one and was there any trouble in getting your claim upheld? It seems like a easy way to get ripped off if you don't find the right company.

I have a warranty that I got a couple of years ago for my 99 GS4 from Warrantybynet.com
I did a ton of research and read several warranty agreements and they were the most reasonable for the coverage and price. I paid $1,100 for 0 deduct 6yr/100k.

WarrantyGold had very good warranties at reasonable rates. They also had a pretty good rep until they stopped paying service departments but kept on selling warranties. This led to some very unhappy individuals, to say the least. (Edmunds' has at least one forum devoted to third party warranties; recommended reading.)

AAA have a extended warranties service. Which is what i am going to use once my factory warranty is up in Feburary. Knock on wood after 9,000 miles and 5 months in my vehicle, I have yet to experience any mechanical failures. 4/48k miles is going for 1200 bumper 2 bumper from AAA. Price depended on age an mileage. Lexus want about twice that for their warranty which I think is too much. But it is a lexus provided warranty so go figure. Good luck on your search.
