Default cost of repainting rear bumper?

hey,

some idiot sideswiped my rear bumper......i've never had any experience with a body shop.....how much do you think the lex dealership would charge me to have it repainted? how long of a job is this?

if it's a quicky job then i'd like to just take it directly to a shop. if it'll take a day or so then i'd like to drop it at the dealership so i get a loaner....i live over an hour away from a dealer.

thanks,
hawk

it really depends on the extent of the damage. I was picking up my little sister one time and the bus driver decided to make a left turn and her back tire grind up against my bumper and took quite a lot of paint and material off. I think they charged me 150 for it. Yeah, depends on area and extent of damage.

agree, just painting would be about 300 to 400 i think

if there is any rather significant repair, they will just replace it. repairing bumper is hard

if its just paint the dealership will charge you approx 600-800. However you should go to private business w/ good reputation and should only be paying about 3-500. If you are in OC area I can recommend you a place that will do it for a good price. The same thing happend to me so I got a quote but I'm just gonna hold off for a whole new kit.

The dealership is going to get you on this....I would go to a reputable shop...do some research and decide from there....I think around $200-$300 depending on the damage.

it's about a foot long 3 inch wide scratch along the side of bumper....no damage to the bumper itself, just paint job needed.

anyone know of a place in columbus ohio? or maybe the name of a cl member who i could pm to get that info? i simply have no resources out here with which to begin.....

thank you all for the advice here

if you want to save an extra few bucks, take the bumper off yourself and give it to the body shop. i did this for my front bumper and paid $250

Hey man i understand what you're going through, because 5 months ago when my GS had only 3,000 miles on it (7,200 now),and some lady park behind me waiting for red light to turn decides to rearrange my backend luckily the lady had insurance, and they paid 550 to have it removed and apply apoxy to the holes then painted.Good thing that i took it to a bodyshop that did all toyota and lexus, and it came out perfect.I was so mad, but happy that everything was ok. n

Hmm.......why everyone keeps mentioning about dealership? They don't do bodywork and paint.

thanks!!! i live over an hour from columbus, so the advantage for the dealer (even though i'm sure they'd outsource it) is that i'd get a loaner in case it takes a little while for the fix (like a full day or so).

also, since ohio is relatively unfamiliar territory for me, the dealer is the safest bet since i know they'll keep me happy (and germain has done really well for me the few times i've been there).

thanks y'all

Default bodyshop

It's about $350 for a bumper and chrome molding from Sewell Lex. I asked my Lexus service rep who did their bodywork (they sub it out)and she told me. I called them for a quote and they said about $350 to install and paint new bumper.
