Question about a 2,000-mile road trip
Hey guys
How are you all doing?
I always appreciate your feedback. It is very helpful.
I plan on driving my 04 GS300 from New York City to Madison, Wisconsin. The car currently has 3,100 miles on it. The trip is around 990 miles. So a round trip is close to 2,000 miles.
Is there anything I should do with my GS before departing? Do I need some type of maintenance check up? I already had the 1,000-mile service done. I plan on having the 5,000-mile service when I return.
Thank you very mcuh for your feedback.
Have a good day.
-Donald
P.S. Anyone from Wisconsin? Let's meet up! Go Packers!!!

All I can is check your tire pressure. Since it is a new car, just check that you have your jack, tire wrench and you have a spare in your trunk.
Otherwise, have a fun and safe trip. The GS is fun to drive.

The farthest I drove was a 4 hour trip to Vegas. All I can say was that it was a very smooth ride in the GS. Although I hated to rack up the 300 mileage, it was very nice compare to the Mustang I rented last time 2000 miles is alot more, however. Make sure you don't have any unnecessary loads to slow you down and burn more of your gas! HAve fun.

Thank you everyone for your feedback.
I greatly appreciate it!
I actually wanted to fly to Wisconsin but my girlfriend wants us to go for a drive.
Easy for her to say.
Oh well,.....
I wish you all a good day!

Tire pressure like mentione above, confirm your oil level is OK. Pack lots of CDs (I would say buy a second cartridge, but I think your GS has in-dash changer vs in the glovebox like the older ones, right)? You've already got the Valentine One.
For a drive of that distance, I'd advise buying a car bra to put on for the trip. Help avoid the stone chips you'll inevitably pick up on your near-new car. Make it easier to clean with all the bug guts you'll collect.

Or without the bra, spray PAM, the one you use for cooking on the front bumper. It works wonders. The bugs slides right off at highway speeds and won't harm your paint.

i do a few texas-ohio runs each year.....16-20hr trips///1200 miles each way. I usually go non-stop, and I've never had a problem (literally, the engine shuts off when i stop for gas and restroom, otherwise it's drive through food the whole way).
buy a cigarette lighter adapter for dc to ac power, plug your laptop in, and also buy an old school casette deck adapter to plug your computer (via headphone jack) into the car, and you're set for music for the day.
you can also use a wifi detector to pull up next to a starbucks or some other place like that on the way, stay in your car, download more music from iTunes, and then continue. i personally have yet to reach that level of geekness, but soon, i'm sure.
i also love my valentine 1. that's an absolute necessity on the road. i can't believe i ever lived without it for road trips.
oh yeah, top off your windshield washer fluid....i always go through it all in a road trip. i've had my car for about one year exactly, and i've already put on about 18k miles.
one great thing about the gs is that your passenger in the front seat can't tell how fast you're going becase the car is so smooth. and even if she tries, the instrument gauges are so well recessed that she can't see them. it's genius.

Your baby is barely broken in...less then 5000 miles.....check all the fluid levels and all tire pressures..you'll be all set to go. Dont forget the wife and the kids in the thrill of the moment.

Thank you again everyone for your helpful feedback.
I greatly appreciate it.
Wow, all of you are really cool and are always so kind and helpful.
I can see why clublexus has such a great reputation!!!!!
I have a lot of knowledge about school admissions (I used to work as one). So if you or a family member of yours plans to apply to college or grad school, I'd be more than happy to give you tips on essays, resumes, etc.
Good night.
